This is the report of a survey undertaken by the National Play Resource Centre of each local authority of the number and location of playgrounds in their areas. The survey found that the number of playgrounds have increased greatly.

As part of the Child in the City Conference held in Stuttgart in October 2006 a visit was made to a Borough in west Stuttgart to explore how this area of the city was working towards being child friendly. Examples of how the streetscape has been changed to accomodate the needs of children, how playgrounds can be created in a densely populated urban areas and multigenerational community facilities.
